South Africa: The Overbearing Mother You Never Wanted

Bus drivers, waiters, cabbies, hotel managers, construction workers, business owners and bartenders all consider it to be their responsibility to warn tourists about where to go and where not to go in South Africa. It doesn't matter if you asked for their advice, or not.

Last night the girls and I ordered a cab to go to the colored area and the cabbie told us that he doesn't go to that area because it's too sketchy and then told us he thought we might want to go to a more "appropriate" club. 

Mr Cabbie - just do your job. I don't need your advice.
